The beautiful city of Bahir Dar is the capital of the Amhara Region and is known to serve as a start off point to visit the surrounding attractions.
It is located about 577 kilometers northwest of Addis Ababa at an elevation of about 1,841 meters above sea level.
It has all the modern facilities, with wide avenues dotted with palm trees and beautiful scenic locations close by the Lake Tana.

One can charter their own boat to explore Lake Tana and its island monasteries. The Blue Nile Falls or Tis Abay in the local language is about 34 kilometers away from Bahir Dar.
